Parental Leave

We are excited to introduce our new family-friendly policies for caregivers! We now offer 12 weeks of 100% paid leave for primary caregivers (birthing mothers) and 1 week of 100% paid leave for secondary caregivers, providing greater support for our growing families.

Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)

Leave Entitlements
Eligible associates may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a rolling 12-month period for the following reasons:

  • Birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child (within one year of the event).

  • Bonding with a child (within one year of birth or placement).

  • Caring for a spouse, child, or parent with a serious health condition.

  • Managing the associate’s own serious health condition that prevents them from working.

  • Addressing qualifying exigencies related to a spouse, child, or parent’s military deployment.

Additionally, eligible associates may take up to 26 weeks of leave in a 12-month period to care for a covered service member with a serious injury or illness if they are the service member’s spouse, child, parent, or next of kin.

Leave can be taken intermittently or on a reduced schedule when medically necessary or permitted. Associates may use accrued paid leave during FMLA leave, subject to Six Flags’s paid leave policies.

Benefits & Protections
During FMLA leave, health insurance coverage continues as if the associate were working. Upon returning, most associates will be reinstated to the same or an equivalent position with the same pay, benefits, and terms. Six Flags will not interfere with FMLA rights or retaliate against associates for using or attempting to use FMLA leave or for participating in FMLA-related proceedings.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for FMLA leave, associates must:

  1. Have worked at Six Flags for at least 12 months (not necessarily consecutive).

  2. Have worked at least 1,250 hours in the last 12 months.

  3. Be employed at a site with 50 or more associates within 75 miles.
